As a volunteer at St Richard’s Hospital, you will connect with our network of committed volunteers and staff. Duties may include the following: • Assist staff with Lunch and Tea Trolley Round. • Act as a Dining Companion * and wipe patients hands with wipe beforehand. • Hourly checks to ensure patients have access to call bell, drink if appropriate, glasses, hearing aid etc. • Push Patients in wheelchairs. * • Accompany patients within the hospital. • Help with bed-making. • Shop for patients at the hospital shop. • Assist with wiping down patient tray tables and locker tops to comply with Infection Control requirements. • Run errands for staff to Pharmacy, other wards and departments. • Provide emotional support, befriending and listening if required and act as a liaison between the Patient and the Nursing staff. • Assist with the collection of patient satisfaction data • Answering the ward telephone. ** • Brushing patients’ hair. • Doing a spectacles cleaning round. • Social Activities – doing activities with patients: games, crosswords etc. ** After appropriate training only.
