Ward Support Volunteer (PRH Recruitment Morning – 22nd July 2026)
Available from 17th July 2026 to 4th July 2026
Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? We are seeking compassionate, dedicated volunteers to support local NHS hospitals and make a real difference to the lives of patients, families, and staff. Just a few hours a week can have a big impact.
If so, we will be holding a recruitment morning on 22nd July 2026 (10am-12pm) at the Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath. This will include a short presentation followed by a group interview process for prospective volunteers.
There are many benefits to volunteering, and we strive to offer a supportive, inclusive and positive volunteering journey for all.
At University Hospitals Sussex, our staff and volunteers embody our Trust values in all that they do. This means anyone who joins our team of volunteers must adopt these too. These are:

We put patients at the heart of all we do. With every act of support, our volunteers help us achieve excellent care every time. Whether this be through befriending a patient on the ward, helping visitors navigate the many miles of hospital corridors, collecting feedback from patients to help us improve, or offering a friendly smile and a cup of tea, we know often the littlest things can make the biggest difference to someone who is anxious, scared or distressed.
What you can expect from us: Comprehensive training and induction prior to starting your volunteering.
Please only apply if you are available to attend the open morning on this date.
